Dicembre 1989, crolla il muro di Berlino. La notizia arriva fino ad un avamposto guerrigliero sprofondato in una giungla del Centro America. La sentono Luca e Giorgio, due italiani in fuga. Terroristi di sinistra, condannati all’ergastolo per una bomba che ha lasciato sul terreno una vittima innocente. Luca capisce che presto anche lì si arriverà alla smobilitazione. Lui, invece, non vuole mollare, non saprebbe dove andare, cosa fare. Giorgio non pensa a nulla, non crede più in niente, gli piacerebbe solo essere uno come tanti, un tipo normale. Così, freddamente, accetta l’ordine del Comandante Cayetano che vuole sbarazzarsi dell’ingombrante presenza di Luca, ed uccide il suo compagno con un colpo di pistola, mentre la radio gracchia una vecchia canzone di Caterina Caselli, “Arrivederci amore, ciao”. Quell’ esecuzione a freddo rappresenta il suo biglietto di ritorno…..

December 1989: the Berlin Wall comes down. The news reaches a guerrilla outpost lost in a Central American jungle. Luca and Giorgio, a pair of Italian fugitives hear it. Left-wing terrorists, they have a life sentence hanging over their heads for a bomb that killed an innocent victim. Luca understands that the guerrillas will soon put away their arms too. But with nowhere to go, nothing else to do, he has no intention of giving up the fight. Giorgio has no opinion, no more beliefs. All he wants is to be a normal person. And so he cold bloodedly accepts the order of Commander Cayetano, who wants Luca the troublemaker out of the way. Giorgio kills his comrade with a pistol shot as the radio crackles out an old pop song by Caterina Caselli, “See You My Love, Ciao”. That cynical execution is Griorgio’s return ticket home …..
