Fondata nel 1945, l’ANICA è l’Associazione che rappresenta le industrie italiane del cinema e dell’audiovisivo nei rapporti con le istituzioni politiche e nelle trattative sindacali. Inoltre è deputata a stabilire relazioni con tutti i maggiori attori del sistema, per la valorizzazione del settore cinematografico (in primo luogo quello nazionale) in Italia e all’estero.
Collocata all’interno della Federazione Confindustria Cultura Italia, l’ANICA è membro di Confindustria.
L’Associazione si divide in tre sezioni: produttori, distributori e industrie tecniche (sviluppo e stampa, teatri di posa, noleggio mezzi, post-produzione audio e video e trasporti).
In qualità di rappresentante in Italia dell’Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, l’ANICA seleziona il candidato italiano all’Oscar per il miglior film in lingua non inglese. L’Associazione è inoltre socio fondatore dell’Ente David di Donatello, che assegna annualmente i relativi premi per il cinema italiano.
L’ANICA è membro delle Federazioni Mondiali delle Associazioni dei distributori cinematografici (FIAD), così come dell’Associazione internazionale per la gestione collettiva delle opere audiovisive (AGICOA).
E' membro permanente della FAPAV, Federazione Antipirateria Audiovisiva.
Dal 2008, l’ANICA ha sviluppato al suo interno un ufficio informativo per illustrare i punti cardine della legge italiana relativa al tax shelter e al tax credit e fornire alle imprese gli strumenti per accedere ai relativi benefici di legge.
Insieme alla SIAE e all’APT, l’ANICA ha costituito ISAN – Italia, la sezione italiana dell’Agenzia Internazionale per lo Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN), dotando anche le imprese italiane della possibilità di vedere assegnato alle loro opere audiovisive il codice internazionale di registrazione.
L’ANICA, attraverso la sua controllata ANICA Servizi srl, supporta le imprese cinematografiche con attività nei settori della promozione e di assistenza fiscale (tax credit, copia privata).
Un ufficio ANICA è operativo a Milano, con l’obiettivo di ampliare la presenza dell’Associazione nel territorio nazionale.

Founded in 1945, ANICA is the association that represents the Italian film and audiovisual industries in dealings with political and union institutions while establishing relations with all the key players in the promotion of films and communications products in Italy and abroad.
Within Italy’s Federation Confindustria Cultura Italia, ANICA is a member of Confindustria (the Italian Industry Confederation), actively representing the film industry
The association is divided into three sections: producers, distributors and technical enterprises (printing and development, film studios and sound-sets, equipment rental, audio and video post-production and transport).
As Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s representative in Italy, ANICA selects Italy’s Oscar candidate for best foreign film. The association is also a founding partner of the “David di Donatello” Award.
ANICA belongs to the World Federation of Cinema Distributors Associations (FIAD) and the Association for the International Collective Management of Audiovisual Works (AGICOA).
Anica is a permanent member of FAPAV, the Italian Audiovisual Anti-Piracy Federation.
Since 2008, ANICA maintains an info-point to explain the finer points of the Italian law on tax shelters and tax credits.
Within SIAE and APT, ANICA has established an Italian national agency for the International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN), making Italy a part of the international system for audiovisual registration.
ANICA also provides film companies with assistance involving promotion and tax benefits, working through its subsidiary ANICA Servizi.
An ANICA branch office has been opened in Milan, expanding the Association’s domestic presence.
