La trama

Licu è nato in Bangladesh, è musulmano, ha ventisette anni e abita a Roma da sei, in una casa in affitto con altre otto persone. Da poco non è più clandestino e per vivere lavora 12 ore al giorno: magazziniere in un laboratorio tessile la mattina, cassiere in un negozio alimentare la sera. Capelli alla Elvis, camicie griffate, tifoso della Roma, Licu sembra molto integrato. Riceve da sua madre la foto di una ragazza di diciotto anni; si chiama Fancy ed è la sposa che la sua famiglia ha scelto per lui. Licu ottiene solo quattro settimane di ferie non pagate per andare in Bangladesh e organizzare il matrimonio con una persona che non conosce. Ma al suo arrivo i negoziati tra le famiglie dei promessi sposi si complicano. Il Bangladesh è sommerso dall'alluvione più imponente degli ultimi cinquant'anni.

Sinopsys

Licu was born in Bangladesh. He is 27, Muslim and has lived in Rome for six years, in a house he rents with eight other people. He became a legal immigrant only recently and works 12 hours a day to get by, as a warehouseman in a textile factory in the mornings and as a cashier in a food shop in the evenings. Sporting an Elvis hairdo and designer shirts, and a fan of the Roma football club, Licu seems to have integrated well. He receives a photo from his mother of an 18 year-old girl: her name is Fancy and she is the bride his family has chosen for him. Licu manages to get just four weeks unpaid leave to return to Bangladesh and organize a wedding with a person he does not know. Upon his arrival, however, negotiations between the families of the bride and groom-to-be become complicated. Bangladesh is submerged in its worst flood in 40 years.
